A driver is dead after a two-vehicle crash on Hwy 2 near Lacombe on Friday night.

Ponoka RCMP’s Integrated Traffic Services Unit responded at 7:40 p.m. to a report of a collision involving a minivan and a sport utility vehicle.

Police suggest a southbound SUV went off the highway, travelled through the median area and ended up in the northbound lanes where a minivan was travelling.

The driver and lone occupant of the minivan died at the scene.
