Open house planned on East Hill structure plan

Residents can give their input into a major plan affecting the city’s east side.

Public input is being sought regarding any amendments to the East Hill Major Area Structure Plan on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at Balmoral Bible Chapel at 55th Street and Rutherford Drive.

City planners are looking to prepare amendments that will consider lands annexed by the city in 2009.

Since this is the initial consultation with the public, no future land use plan will be presented at the open house. This Major Area Structure Plan is a broad, long range land use planning tool.

The plan area contains approximately 37 quarter sections or 5,920 acres. About 17 quarter sections within the plan area are fully completed city residential neighbourhoods.

The more recently completed neighbourhoods of the East Hill community are easily identified by their compact land use pattern, walkable streets and green spaces linking neighbourhoods to commercial sites, natural areas, parks, school sites and other community gathering places.
