West Park area residents can respond to proposed plans for its first community and area redevelopment plan.

The City of Red Deer will host two open houses in West Park on Monday and Tuesday at the West Park Activity Centre at 3811 57th Ave.

Both open houses run from 4 to 8 p.m. when city planning staff will be available to discuss proponents of the plan.

Land use district changes, residential design criteria, transportation network changes, recommendations on amenities, and an implementation role for implementation by the West Park Community will be among the topics.

West Park boundaries are to the south, 32nd Street; to the north, Warwick Drive and Welton Crescent; to the east, Taylor Drive; and to the west, 50th Avenue.

West Park is one of the city’s most established residential neighbourhoods. The West Park Community Association has been active for more than 48 years. West Park is characterized by its proximity to Red Deer College, a variety of lot sizes, several schools, proximity to established trail system, and a mature tree canopy.

The neighbourhood’s proximity to the college has made it attractive to residents wanting to establish secondary suites.

Materials for the open house, including information about the proponents, is available at www.reddeer.ca/westpark
