The 20th annual Lacombe Hospital and Care Centre Charity Golf Classic held in June raised $40,000 for the equipment and installation.

The project cost over $71,000 and David Thompson Health Trust paid the remaining $31,000.

More than 250 surgical procedures were performed in the Lacombe operating room last year, including procedures for hernias, tonsils, carpal tunnel repairs and cesarean sections.

The hospital’s multi-disciplinary Pain Management Clinic uses the operating room to perform about 1,500 spinal injections a year.

Over the past three years, the golf tournament has raised $141,450.

The money helped purchase telemetry equipment to monitor vital signs and heart rhythm, fetal monitors, and electric beds in acute and continuing care replaced outdated manual crank beds.

A portable ultrasound machine was also purchased for the emergency department for quicker diagnosis of life-threatening traumas and conditions.
