Paintings of imaginary places will be displayed this month at the Harris-Warke Gallery in downtown Red Deer.

Artist Galia Kwetny combines recognizable landscape features with dramatic colour and gesture for her large works in the Connecting Places exhibit.

Kwetny was born in the former Soviet Union and taught art in Israel before arriving in Canada in 2002. She is a graduate of the University of Alberta and Emily Carr University of Art and Design.

Connecting Places will have an opening reception on Friday, Dec. 7, from 6 to 8 p.m. as part of Red Deer’s First Fridays gallery openings. It runs to Dec. 29.

The Harris-Warke Gallery is located in the Sunworks store at 4924 Ross St.
