CARDSTON — A portion of a southern Alberta park has been temporarily closed due to grizzly bear activity.

Conservation officers say they have seen grizzlies feeding on berries at Police Outpost Provincial Park along the Alberta-Montana boundary, and expect the bears to stay in the area until they hibernate.

The entire Outpost Wetlands Natural Area has also been closed.

However, Police Outpost campground in the park’s northeast remains open until Oct. 31.

Visitors are advised to travel with bear spray and campers are cautioned to properly handle food.

Conservation officers will be patrolling the area.
