Pavement scraping makes no sense

It has been said that common sense isn’t very common. The City of Red Deer has proven that!Last year when the bottoms of cars were being destroyed and buses were being shaken apart because of the ruts and mounds of snow on the roads, the city sat on its hands until the situation became desperate before any snow removal was done.

Last year when the bottoms of cars were being destroyed and buses were being shaken apart because of the ruts and mounds of snow on the roads, the city sat on its hands until the situation became desperate before any snow removal was done.

This year, the snow removal policy has changed and snow is to be removed when it reaches a certain depth.

That sounds great! The snowfall in November triggered the city to begin plowing residential areas.

However, with the subsequent warm days and thawing, that snowfall situation no longer exists.

The city is plowing anyway!

What the ...? How insane! Come on, city council, give your heads a shake! Or rattle the heads of the fools who’ve decided to keep crews and machinery going for no reason at all — at taxpayers’ expense!
