Peterman wins Whitney Junior Classic

Jocelyn Peterman of Red Deer coasted to victory in the Whitney Field Junior Classic curling bonspiel during the weekend.

LLOYDMINSTER — Jocelyn Peterman of Red Deer coasted to victory in the Whitney Field Junior Classic curling bonspiel during the weekend.

Peterman with third Brittany Tran, second Rebecca Konschuh and lead Kristie Anderson, beat Kelsey Rocque of Edmonton 10-2 in the final and pocketed $2,500.

Peterman posted a 3-0 record in pool play then downed Brittany Whittemore of Edmonton 7-1 in the quarter-finals and Taylore Theroux of Edmonton 6-0 in the semifinals.

Megan Orr of Red Deer, who has Heather Rogers at third, Lindsey More at second and Sarah More at lead, also had a 3-0 record in her pool before losing 7-3 to Karynn Flory of Edmonton in the quarter-finals.

Peterman leads the Alberta Junior Curling Tour with 43 points.

Meanwhile Rylan Grey of Red Deer and Dylan Webster of Sundre both lost in the men’s quarter-finals.

Grey along with third Ty Parcels, second Caleb Boorse and lead Mackenzie Duffin, lost 7-5 to Josh Deibert of Edmonton. Webster dropped a 7-6 decision to Andrew Evans of Camrose.
