Justin Moir, Jeff Kohut, Lucas Deibert and Kolton Gillett scored for the Vipers, who tested Generals goalie Matt Sawchuk with 28 shots. Red Deer was assessed eight of 12 minor penalties and the visitors picked up the lone major.

The win completed a successful weekend for the Red Deer squad, which posted a 5-4 win over the host Airdrie Thunder Friday as Gillett, Moir, Cole DeGraaf, Colten Brule and Brad VanGrinsven provided the goals and Pohl made 38 saves.

Airdrie was assessed 12 of 21 minor penalties.

l The host Blackfalds Wranglers, with Justin Lawson recording a hat trick, slipped past Cochrane 6-5 Sunday.

Chance Abbott, Jared Williams and Wyatt Fraser also scored for the winners, while Layne Swier made 34 saves.

l Kyler O’Connor potted the lone goal for the visiting Stettler Lightning in a 7-1 loss to the Coaldale Copperheads Saturday. Steven Aldman and Simon Thieleman combined to make 22 saves in a losing cause.

l Elsewhere Saturday, Colin Richard, Kenton Siegle and Josh Elliott scored for the Ponoka Stampeders in a 7-3 loss to the visiting Mountainview Colts. Logan Stebner and Aaron Swier combined for 51 stops for the Stamps.

Ponoka was more competitive Friday but still fell 2-1 to the host Three Hills Thrashers, whose goals were provided by Landon Kletke and Cameron Braun.

Siegle scored the lone goal for Ponoka, which got a sizzling 61-save outing from Stebner. Brady Hoover blocked 21 shots for the winners.
