Police charge man with attempted murder in attack on Edmonton Transit bus driver

A 24-year-old man is facing several charges, including attempted murder, after an Edmonton Transit bus driver was beaten.

EDMONTON — A 24-year-old man is facing several charges, including attempted murder, after an Edmonton Transit bus driver was beaten.

Police say a male who appeared drunk attacked the driver on the bus early Thursday morning.

The man then dragged the driver off the bus and continued attacking him.

The attacker fled and the bus driver, who police say is in his mid-50s, was taken to hospital with head injuries.

Charged is Gary Edwin Mattson.
