FARGO, N.D. — Police have identified a father and daughter from Edmonton, Alta., who were killed in a head-on collision involving a minivan and a semi in North Dakota.

The Highway Patrol says Colin Berry and his 11-year-old daughter, Rachel, died Tuesday morning when the van Berry was driving crossed the median on Interstate 29 north of Fargo and collided with the truck.

The patrol says it appears Berry, who was 43, was distracted by something and then overcorrected.

Berry’s 43-year-old wife, Lizyanet (LIZ’-ah-net), was flown to a Fargo hospital with serious injuries.

The 61-year-old semi driver, who is from Jamestown, N.D., was not hurt.
