Police release video of men laughing as they take Calgary bus for a joyride

CALGARY — Calgary police are hoping video surveillance will help them nab two men who took a city transit bus for a destructive joyride.

Police say the bus driver left the vehicle running when he stopped to use a bathroom at a fast-food restaurant early Sunday.

Two people hopped on board and smashed it into at least a couple of parked cars as they took it through a southeast neighbourhood.

Police were called when the bus was found damaged and abandoned about half an hour later.

The released video shows one of the men laughing while the other spins the vehicle’s massive wheel as the bus zooms along a curvy residential street.

Calgary Transit policy allows drivers to leave their buses running for up to five minutes.
