Police saw teen texting when she hit pedestrian

ST. ALBERT — A 17-year-old girl is facing a distracted driving charge after a man was hit in a crosswalk north of Edmonton.

Mounties in St. Albert says a 27-year-old man was crossing at a crosswalk when he was struck by a car.

He was taken to hospital with a broken leg.

Police believe the teen was texting while driving.

She is charged with failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk, and distracted driving using a hand-held cellphone.
