Police seek surveillance images

RCMP investigating the murder of Vicky Shachtay in Innisfail are requesting anyone with private residential security cameras focused on streets near her home to contact police.

RCMP investigating the murder of Vicky Shachtay in Innisfail are requesting anyone with private residential security cameras focused on streets near her home to contact police.

Shachtay, 23, died after a package exploded at her apartment in an townhouse-style complex on 51St. Avenue at about 9 a.m. on Nov. 25.

RCMP say Shachtay was the target.

Investigators are interested in images recorded during the evening on Nov. 24 and the early morning of Nov. 25.

The cameras may help identify the individual or people who placed the explosive device at the residence.

Police say cameras focused on any street or location in the area may have valuable information.

People are asked to contact the Innisfail RCMP Detachment at 403-227-3342.

Anyone with any information that could assist police in this homicide are asked to call Innisfail RCMP or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) if anonymity is a concern.

Police say no tip is too small to report for consideration as the slightest detail may ultimately prove to be very important in solving this crime.
