EDMONTON — Police have seized 72 kilograms of dried opium poppy from an Edmonton grocery store.
Fifty-two-year-old Ravi Mohan Jolly, the owner of the business, has been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking.
The seizure is the result of an investigation by the gang and drug section of the Edmonton Police Force.
Police say they got a tip that a package containing opium poppy was on its way to the city from Mississauga, Ont.
Along with the poppy heads, undercover officers found a powdered form of the dried poppy head.
