BURNABY, B.C. — Police in Burnaby, B.C., have issued an urgent warning about an armed and dangerous man suspected in a double homicide at a sushi restaurant on Sunday and an attempted murder on Tuesday.

RCMP Insp. Tim Shields says 26-year-old Angus David Mitchell is believed to own a high-powered rifle with a scope and that his whereabouts are unknown.

Police have said a man and woman gunned down inside the restaurant were victims of a cold and callous killing and that a motive has not been established in the slayings.

Besides that incident, Shields says Mitchell is wanted in connection with the attempted murder of his former landlord, who remains in serious condition in hospital.

Shields called on anyone who’s had a conflict with Mitchell at any time in the past to be cautious about their personal safety.

He says the former security guard could be living out of his 1994 green Ford Aerostar van, which may be parked in isolated locations overnight.
