Ponoka team going to nationals

The Ponoka Leisure Lanes team — the Central Alberta A team — finished second in the Alberta 5 Pin Bowlers Association provincial pins over average tournament during the weekend at Riverside Lanes in Red Deer.

The Ponoka Leisure Lanes team — the Central Alberta A team — finished second in the Alberta 5 Pin Bowlers Association provincial pins over average tournament during the weekend at Riverside Lanes in Red Deer. The team of Shari Hansen, Kelly and Steve Budd and Ty Frank along with coach Eric Andersen were sixth heading into their final two games, but picked up 12 of a possible 14 points to finish second and earn a berth in the Canadians April 26-29 in Thunder Bay, Ont.

Budd also had the high average on the ladies’ side with a 233.56 total with Ashley Ehret of the Red Deer team second at 230.56. An Edmonton team took top spot.
