EDMONTON — A Canada Post employee has been taken to hospital with minor injuries after she was allegedly shot with a toy weapon.

The postal worker was shot in the leg while delivering mail to homes in west Edmonton.

She reportedly heard a pop and saw a yellow vehicle driving by.

A yellow SUV that matched the description of the vehicle was found in a school parking lot about 15 blocks away and two youths were taken into custody.

Investigators have not identified the exact weapon that might have been involved in the incident, but they believe it was a B.B. gun or airsoft-type gun.

Police say that incidents with toy weapons are taken very seriously.

A small piece of ammunition from the toy gun is still embedded in the postal worker’s leg.
