EDMONTON — Premier Ed Stelmach has shuffled his cabinet to fill vacancies left by those seeking to replace him.

Wetaskiwin backbencher Verlyn Olson is the new justice minister, replacing Alison Redford who resigned Wednesday to run for the Tory leadership.

Greg Weadick, an MLA from Lethbridge, takes over the advanced education portfolio from the departing Doug Horner.

Another backbencher, Cal Dallas from Red Deer, replaces Doug Griffiths as parliamentary assistant for finance.

Former finance minister Ted Morton is also running in the leadership race.

Treasury Board president Lloyd Snelgrove has assumed Morton’s duties since he stepped down last month.
