Premier Redford and 60 fellow Tories sworn in as MLAs at Alberta legislature

EDMONTON — Alberta Premier Alison Redford and 60 fellow Progressive Conservatives have been sworn in at the Alberta legislature.

Twenty-two of the MLAs will be taking a seat in the assembly for the first time.

Lt.-Gov. Don Ethell presided over the ceremony.

The members of the Wildrose party, Liberals and New Democrats are to be sworn in Wednesday.

The house will briefly convene next week to pick a new Speaker to replace the retired Ken Kowalski.

There will also be a speech from the throne.
