Premiers looking for consensus -- and luggage -- at annual meeting

REGINA — Canada’s premiers typically seek to agree on major issues when they gather for their annual meeting, but some of the provincial leaders are also looking for something else — their luggage.

Dalton McGuinty of Ontario, Shawn Graham of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia’s Darrell Dexter and Robert Ghiz from Prince Edward Island all arrived in Regina for this week’s meeting without their baggage.

The premiers were on the same Air Canada flight, which was supposed to leave Toronto on Tuesday evening, but was delayed until early Wednesday because of bad weather.

Graham joked that he expects his luggage to arrive just as the premiers are wrapping up Friday.

Dexter has been spotted wearing new clothes, although it’s not known where he shopped.
