ProStitch Chiefs fall to Wheatland

The Red Deer ProStitch Chiefs received balanced scoring in their South Central Midget AA Hockey League playoff game with the visiting Wheatland Chiefs Saturday but came out on the short end of an 8-5 score.

The Red Deer ProStitch Chiefs received balanced scoring in their South Central Midget AA Hockey League playoff game with the visiting Wheatland Chiefs Saturday but came out on the short end of an 8-5 score.

Collin Richard, Jesse Rauch, Brendan Dennis, Jordan Pratt and Adam Ferguson each notched a goal for ProStitch, which was swept in the best-of-three North Division final. ProStitch netminders Taylor Steele and Brady Nydokus combined to make 31 saves as the Red Deer squad was outshot 39-38.

Peewee

Braden Olsen fired four goals as Red Deer Holiday Inn beat Sundre 8-3 Saturday in the second half of a two-game, total-goal North Central Peewee A League semifinal.

Travis Mears, Austin Price, Jackson Ward and Jared Lower also scored for the winners, who took the series 17-7 following a 9-4 victory Friday. Tanner Savage-Howe, Lucas Dyer and Matt Wood replied in a losing cause.

Ward tallied twice for Holiday Inn in the first game, while Price, Mears, Olsen, Joseph Hallman, Kenton MacDonald, Ryan Claerhout and Cobe Williams each added a goal. Savage-Howe, Brett Perry and Caden Surbey scored for Sundre.

Holiday Inn will face either Ponoka or Daysland in the league final.
