Public meeting on fracking after Gleniffer Lake incident

Concerns about fracking will come to the surface at a public information meeting organized by the Sundre Petroleum Operators Group on Monday.

Concerns about fracking will come to the surface at a public information meeting organized by the Sundre Petroleum Operators Group on Monday.

Members of the Alberta Surface Rights Group are encouraging members of the public attend the meeting, set for the Harmattan Hall from 6:30 to 9 p.m. to talk about their concerns.

Worries have risen after an incident at the west side of Gleniffer Lake in mid-January, when a fracking operation breached a neighbouring well and sent a mixture of fluids in the air, said ASRG member Rob Schwartz of Red Deer.

Harmattan is 17 km west of Olds on Hwy 27 and then three km south on Range Road 40.
