Public school foundation provides project funds

The Foundation for Red Deer Public Schools provided $50,850 to support local school projects for the 2011-2012 school year.

The Foundation for Red Deer Public Schools provided $50,850 to support local school projects for the 2011-2012 school year.

The financial boost will support 30 projects that enhance and enrich learning for students across the Red Deer Public School District.

Among the projects, Lindsay Thurber Comprehensive High School received $3,000 for the Grade 9 Awareness Day — Making Good Choices, and features a presentation on teenage drinking and driving, substance abuse and peer pressure issues.

Normandeau School received $750 to purchase cameras to start a school video yearbook. G.H. Dawe Community School received $750 to purchase exercise steppers for the classrooms to help students who may need movement breaks during the day or for those experiencing frustration or anxiety.
