Quick-thinking passenger leads police to robbery suspect

CALGARY — Calgary police say a quick-thinking passenger stalled a robbery on a city transit bus.

They say a man with a knife began threatening a passenger on the bus and demanding cash.

Another passenger slipped off the bus and called 9-1-1 from a nearby payphone.

Police officers on the street responded, along with the police helicopter.

They stopped the bus with both the knife-wielding man and victim still on board.

Eighteen-year-old Darcy Docherty is charged with robbery and possession of a weapon.
