Speaking as a farmer, I can see that society has no concern for the agricultural community, after reading the article in the Sept. 3, 2014, Advocate (Councillors excited by ‘naturally exquisite’ neighbourhood)!
The City of Red Deer is covering some of the best farmland in Central Alberta with concrete and pavement.
There aren’t a lot of areas that have a half to one metre of productive black soil and the city should look for less productive land for expansion.
Oil brings “big bucks” but farmers feed the world!
