Raiders edge Bulldogs

Meanwhile, the Lacombe Raiders ripped the Springbank Phoenix 54-0, the Stettler Cougars crushed the visiting Hunting Hills Lightning 70-0, the Sylvan Lake Lions got past the Notre Dame Cougars 21-14 and, in a provincial Tier 4 playoff contest, the Rocky Mountain House Rebels posted their first win of the season, 38-2 over the Drumheller Titans.

At Stettler, Braden Nelson scored three touchdowns for the winners, while Parker Cassidy and Mark Meyer each scored two. As well, Austin Cherewko hauled in a scoring pass from Morgan Loshny, Mark Forrester had an offensive touchdown and returned and interception for another major, and Forrester and Nicholas Baharally were good on five of 10 convert attempts.

The Lightning dressed only 19 players due to a severe cold and flu outbreak.

Times for the league semifinals will be announced later this week.

•In Central Peewee League final regular-season action, the Red Deer Steelers swamped Stettler 56-0, Olds blanked Strathmore 41-0, the Red Deer Hornets dumped Sylvan Lake 24-0 and Lacombe lashed Innisfail 64-6.
