Raiders finish seventh

The girls’ edition of the Lindsay Thurber Raiders managed the only win for the Red Deer school at the Bev Facey senior basketball tournament during the weekend.

SHERWOOD PARK — The girls’ edition of the Lindsay Thurber Raiders managed the only win for the Red Deer school at the Bev Facey senior basketball tournament during the weekend.

The Raiders took seventh place with a 53-48 win over Lloydminster after losing 46-43 in the B side semifinal to Salisbury of Sherwood Park.

Amy Whitesell had 18 points and Taylor Heist 16 for the Raiders against Lloydminster while Mikayla Morneault had nine points and Cara Vandervlis eight against Salisbury.

On the boys’ side, the Raiders lost 65-63 to Salisbury in the B side semifinal then dropped an 82-81 decision to Lloydminster in the seventh-place game.

Spencer Klassen had 16 points, Demarcus Adamson 11 and Kane Weik 10 against Salisbury with Tanner Rehn and Adamson hitting 16 each against Lloydminster.
