DEVON — A man suffered minor injuries after he allegedly rammed an RCMP cruiser with a stolen pickup truck before leading police on a chase southwest of Edmonton.

Mounties say an officer stopped a vehicle that was thought to be stolen, but the male driver allegedly rammed the cruiser and sped away.

The suspect was later spotted near the community of Devon and veered into a farmer’s field before driving over an embankment, causing the truck to land on its roof.

The driver managed to scramble out of the vehicle and tried to flee on foot, but he was arrested at gunpoint a few metres from the wreckage.

Officers from four detachments were involved in the pursuit.

RCMP say two of their cruisers were damaged.
