A former Alberta government manager who is serving jail time for bilking that province of more than $634,000 now faces fraud charges in Manitoba.

FLIN FLON, Man. — A former Alberta government manager who is serving jail time for bilking that province of more than $634,000 now faces fraud charges in Manitoba.

In April, Lloyd Carr was sentenced in Edmonton to 3 1/2 years after pleading guilty to one count of fraud over $5,000.

He took the money while working at the Alberta Drug and Alcohol Commission.

Now RCMP in Flin Flon, Man., say they have charged Carr with two counts of uttering a forged document and one count of fraud.

Carr is accused of applying for sick leave from the Norman Regional Health Authority in Manitoba with a forged doctor’s note to receive cancer treatment just before he was sentenced in Alberta.

He is also accused of forging a university degree that he presented to the health authority before he was hired as a mental health clinician.

Carr is to appear in Flin Flon provincial court on Sept. 1.
