RCMP investigate after dog shot with arrow

OKOTOKS — Police are looking for the person who shot an arrow through the torso of a dog.

OKOTOKS — Police are looking for the person who shot an arrow through the torso of a dog.

RCMP say Eddie, a four-year-old Great Pyrenees, was found with the arrow sticking through his chest and out the other side of his body on Aug. 8 in Okotoks.

The metre-long arrow was lodged next to his heart and vets had to sew up his diaphragm and liver, which were punctured.

Amy Gill can’t believe somebody would do that to an animal.

“He’s a protector of my children, a companion to my husband and to me. He’s just one of my kids. I love him with all my heart,” says Gill.

Police say the arrow was professional grade and was likely fired by someone who knew what they were doing.

The Great Pyrenees is a large breed that resembles an all-white sheepdog.

Police are asking the public for any information.
