RCMP recover stolen vehicle and gun; 2 arrested

A motor vehicle break-in investigation resulted in RCMP locating a stolen firearm and a vehicle early Wednesday.

Const. Chris Kosack of city RCMP said police were called to a vehicle break-in in progress in the Westlake area in Red Deer about 3:40 a.m.

Police stopped a woman and a man. The man fled across nearby Hwy 2 and was found hiding by an RCMP dog team.

The man was taken to hospital and treated for injuries then released to police.

Kosack said the investigation revealed the car was stolen earlier in the evening from the Normandeau area. Police located various items including firearm in the vehicle.

Both suspects are in custody pending charges, Kosack said.
