RDGCC’s Dusyk finishes eighth at senior golf provincials

Merv Dusyk of the Red Deer Golf and Country Club (RDGCC) fired a final round two-under par 70 to move into a tie for eighth at the Alberta senior men’s golf championship Thursday.

CARSTAIRS — Merv Dusyk of the Red Deer Golf and Country Club (RDGCC) fired a final round two-under par 70 to move into a tie for eighth at the Alberta senior men’s golf championship Thursday.

Dusyk had rounds of 73-75-70 for a 218 total, the same as Tom Skinner of the RDGCC, who had a final round 72 following rounds of 75-71.

Jim Hargreaves of Ponoka led the Central Alberta contingent with a (69-75-73) 217 total, which left him in a tie for sixth, 15 strokes back of Floyd Kilgore of Peace River, who came in with a 67 Thursday. Earlier he had rounds of 66-69 and finished seven strokes ahead of Howard Broun of Calgary Earl Grey.

Frank Van Dornick of Camrose finished third at 70-74-70—214.

Keith Newton of Olds was 12th at 73-75-71—219 with Ken Evanecz of the RDGCC tied for 40th at 78-77-73—228.

Tom McKinlay Sr. of Lacombe (78-75-83—236) tied for 56th and Les Swelin of Sundre (76-75-86—237) was 58th.
