The Red Deer Rebels hockey team scored big with blood donations thanks to their fans.

The Rebels collected 249 donations compared with their Western Hockey League rivals, Lethbridge Hurricanes, which received 218, during the month of February.

This was the first time the two teams took the battle from the ice to their community Canadian Blood Services clinic.

Halfway through the campaign, the Rebels were trailing but they came through in a big way.
