Player info: Byron Froese joined the Rebels in the summer of 2010 in a high-profile trade that sent former Rebel forward Landon Ferraro to the Everett Silvertips.
Froese scored 29 goals and collected 61 points in 70 games with the Silvertips during the 2009-10 campaign. He’ll also be looked upon as a leader after serving as an assistant captain in Everett.
Froese developed a reputation as a stellar two-way performer during his two seasons in Everett, an aptitude that didn’t escape the Blackhawks, who selected the six-foot-one, 180-pound pivot in the fourth round of the 2009 NHL entry draft. He was a vision of consistency through his first two years with the ‘Tips, scoring 19 goals and collecting 57 points as a rookie and racking up 61 points — including 29 goals — last winter.
“I’m hoping to bring some of both (offensive and defensive awareness) to this team,” said Froese. “I obviously want to bring a lot of offence this season and I’m going to hold myself up to that. I’ll just do my best to help the team wherever I can, whether it be on the power play, the penalty kill or even strength.”
