It was a clean sweep for the Red Deer Chamber of Commerce at the recent Alberta Chambers of Commerce conference and policy session in Fort McMurray.

All seven of the policy positions presented by the local Chamber at the conference were adopted as provincial chamber policies.

These related to exempting Albertans from paying harmonized provincial sales tax and GST on asset management services; developing a green economy; ensuring the protection of agriculture in the Alberta Land Use Stewardship Act; promoting agri-business by reducing trade barriers; instituting an appeal process for labour market opinions required under the Temporary Foreign Workers Program; developing an inter-community business licence strategy; and supporting technology-driven innovation by modifying funding programs.

The Red Deer Chamber policies were developed by its members in volunteer committees. They will now be promoted by the Alberta Chambers of Commerce.
