Red Deer downtown traffic a mess

Red Deer city council needs to revisit accessibility of its two main roads going in and out of downtown.

Red Deer city council needs to revisit accessibility of its two main roads going in and out of downtown.

For example, Gaetz Avenue northbound now has parking meters and hunks of sidewalk and landscaping intruding fully into the far left lane. This causes bottlenecks and traffic jams now when there is no snow. Traffic in the far right lane is already blocked near the parkade, due to traffic turning northbound on Ross.

Thus essentially in a small area midtown, there are only two through traffic lanes.

Surely this will be a nightmare for flat-blade plowing in winter — only dragging the time it will take to clear the main downtown roads.
