Representatives of energy companies and environmental groups will converge in Red Deer next week at the annual Synergy Alberta Conference.
Taking place at the Capri Centre from Monday to Wednesday, the conference will feature a broad range of speakers. Keynote presentations will be made by Jason Donev, a University of Calgary instructor who teaches about nuclear power; Dave Collyer, president of the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers; Mike Dawson, president of the Canadian Society for Unconventional Resources; and Patrick Moore, a co-founder of Greenpeace who served nine years as president of Greenpeace Canada and seven years as a director of Greenpeace International. Among the topics to be covered at sessions during the conference will be nuclear power, pipeline safety, oilsands contamination, carbon capture and storage, water protection, Alberta’s Land-use Framework and sustainable energy.
Synergy Alberta co-ordinates and supports synergy groups, which are made up of community, industry and government representatives and promote energy development in a collaborative manner. Information about it and next week’s conference can be found online at www.synergyalberta.ca.
