A Red Deer man facing four charges involving theft and breaching probation reserved his plea Wednesday in Stony Plain provincial court.

Timothy Lawrence Cave, 52, returns to court Sept. 7 to enter a plea on possession of stolen property, theft, fraud and breaching court orders.

Stony Plain RCMP Const. Barb Roy said a man hit area businesses the week of Aug. 15 by purchasing items although he had no money up front.

The suspect told store officials he would pay and was gone by the time police arrived.

Police say the suspect approached Blue Diamond Jewellers in Stony Plain Aug. 17 and wanted to see about $30,000 in merchandise.

Staff wouldn’t let the man leave with the merchandise but when they were putting the merchandise away they noticed a hat, lighter and knife were missing.

Police arrested a suspect later that day.
