A Red Deer man is among five Albertans being honoured for their work with seniors.

Claude Clemence is receiving a 2012 Minister’s Senior Service Award, which recognizes individuals or organizations that have had a positive impact on seniors and their communities.

Five individuals and three organizations were chosen from among 77 nominees this year.

Clemence has volunteered with the Golden Circle Seniors Resource Centre since 2004. He delivers groceries, visits and offers rides to medical appointments. Through his volunteer work at the library he has helped make it more accessible and senior-friendly.

Clemence also helped develop a website for seniors and delivers books through the Homebound Readers’ Service.
