Police were concentrating search efforts Wednesday afternoon in the wooded area near the Pines subdivision as they hunt for a 30-year-old woman who has been missing since Monday afternoon.

Const. Chris Kosack of city RCMP said on Wednesday that police are searching for Amanda Maurice after receiving a complaint of a missing person from a residence in the Pines area at 3:25 p.m. Tuesday.

Maurice left the residence on Monday at about 2 p.m. and did not return when expected.

She is believed to be suffering from depression and may be suicidal.

Police have made inquiries into her known frequented locations but she has yet to be located.

Kosack said police are searching the wooded area behind the subdivision and the accompanying trail system. He said Maurice has been known to frequent this area.

Kosack said as of Wednesday afternoon, police had not called on additional search resources such as search and rescue workers but that could change late Wednesday or early Thursday.

Maurice is described as white and stands 1.78 metres (five feet, 10 inches) tall and weighs 78 kg (160 pounds).

She had brown hair and blue eyes and was last seen wearing a blue ski jacket.

If anyone has seen this woman or know of her whereabouts, they are asked to contact police at 403-343-5575.
