CALGARY — Alberta Premier Alison Redford says she isn’t going to jump to any conclusions about the newly elected premier of Quebec.

CALGARY — Alberta Premier Alison Redford says she isn’t going to jump to any conclusions about the newly elected premier of Quebec.

Redford says she intends to chat with Pauline Marois over the next couple of days, but admits she is sad about what happened to Jean Charest, someone she describes as a close personal friend.

The Alberta premier says she intends to work with every premier across the country and hopes to build a partnership with Marois.

Redford brushed aside suggestions that a Parti Quebecois government could pose a threat to Canadian unity.

She says she won’t characterize the new government in Quebec in any way until she’s had a chance to speak to the premier.

Redford says she is proud of the contribution that Quebec has made to the Canadian identity.
