• A Life for Lexx Fundraiser will be held on Oct. 22, 5 p.m. at the Holiday Inn. This dinner, auction and casino event raises money for Spinal Muscular Atrophy, a leading genetic killer of children. • Red Deer’s Jail-N-Bail will be held Oct. 19 and 20 at Parkland Mall. Snitch on your friends, family or co-workers, or turn yourself in and help raise funds for cancer research with the money raised to bail out the jailbirds. • Red Deer College Performing Arts Theatre Productions will present Fuente Ovejuna in Studio A, Oct. 13 to 15 and Oct. 18-22 at 7:30 p.m. Weekend matinees will be held on Oct. 15 and 22 at 1 p.m. with school matinees on Oct. 14 and 19 at noon. This fiery play is about a village that fights injustice and overcomes a brutal regime and is recommended for ages 14 and older.

• Stewards of Children session, presented by Little Warriors, is a three hours training session that educates adults on how to help prevent, recognize and react to child sexual abuses. Parents, teachers, volunteers and professionals can expect to feel empowered an informed. The course will be offered on Oct. 22, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Parkland Youth Homes.
