Renegades take gold and silver

The Red Deer Renegades U14 Tier 2 boys won gold in the Slush Cup with a 4-3 win over the Edmonton West Warriors.

Gheorge Ruicea tallied twice for the Renegades, with Reece Lehman and Koltan Childs also scoring. Jacob Hamilton was outstanding in goal for the Renegades, who earlier beat the Saskatoon Germio 4-3 and the Calgary SWU Red Devils 4-2 in round robin play.

Shelby Goedhart scored twice against Saskatoon, while Nicholas VanDoesburg and Erik Brezovan added singles. Ruicea scored twice against Calgary, with VanDoesburg and Trevor Luymes adding singles.

The Red Deer Renegades won silver in the girls’ U12 tier I division of the Slush Cup indoor soccer tournament in Edmonton during the weekend.

The Renegades tied the Calgary Saints 0-0, defeated the Edmonton Scottish 3-1 and lost 4-2 to the Calgary Red Devils.,

Emma Holmes, Natalia Brezovan, Brianna Allred and Mackenzie Partridge scored the Red Deer goals while Brianna Allred and Samu Ndhlovu shared goaltending duties.
