CALGARY — Researchers at the University of Calgary are looking for some laid-back individuals who may once have had a bad case of the munchies.

Clinical psychologists are doing a study to develop treatment for people addicted to marijuana.

It’s estimated that one out of every 10 users will develop a dependency on pot at some point in their lives.

Study lead Jonathan Stea says the risk increases dramatically depending on how often the drug is smoked.

He says the majority of individuals with a cannabis problem don’t get professional treatment and often recover on their own.

Stea wants to examine the difference between getting help and going cold turkey, and is looking for volunteers who’ve have had a cannabis addiction in the past but have been clean for at least one year.
