There’s good news for shift workers, insomniacs and anyone who struggles to complete their Christmas shopping during traditional retail hours.

Walmart Canada and Real Canadian Superstore have both confirmed that their tills will operate 24/7 from now until Christmas Eve.

In the case of Walmart, around-the-clock shopping is being offered at 202 of the retail giant’s 329 Canadian stores. These include the south Red Deer supercentre at 2010 50th Ave., as well as the Walmarts in Sylvan Lake, Olds and Stettler.

“For the past several years, we’ve been happy to offer 24-hour shopping in communities across Canada during the Christmas shopping period,” said Jim Thompson, the company’s chief operating officer.

Walmart has also introduced online shopping for a number of products this year.

Continuous Christmas shopping has also been offered in the past at Red Deer’s Real Canadian Superstore, which is located at 5016 51 Ave.

Craig Ware, director of corporate affairs for Western Canada with Superstore parent Loblaw Companies Ltd., said the extended hours apply to all Real Canadian Superstores in Alberta. He added that holiday hours at other Loblaw stores, such as Extra Foods and nofrills, will vary with location.
