Revenge takes gold in under-14 ringette

Kaylee Domoney fired three goals — including a pair just 19 seconds apart — to lead the Red Deer State Farm Revenge to a 5-2 victory over the Beaumont Bazzang in Sunday’s gold-medal game of the provincial under-14 ringette championship at the Dawe Arena.

Keesha Fairbrother and Shannel Holtz also scored for the Revenge, who were undefeated in the three-day tournament and lost just two games during the entire season.

The Red Deer squad opened the provincial championship with a 5-4 win over the South Calgary Vaara, getting two-goal performances from Domoney and Isabel St. Pierre and a single from Holtz.

From there, the Revenge concluded round-robin play with an 8-1 thumping of the Edmonton Nova and a 5-4 defeat of the Medicine Hat Havoc.

Mackenzie Lindholm netted four goals against the Nova, while Domoney had a pair and Holtz and St. Pierre added singles, and Domoney and Lindholm each tallied twice and Holtz once versus the Havoc.

The Revenge then toppled the Strathmore Ice Fusion 9-8 in a semifinal as Lindholm led the way with four goals, Haley Lalor netted a pair and St. Pierre, Domoney and Holtz each scored once.
