Riggers 1-1 in St. Albert tourney

The Red Deer Riggers posted a 1-1 record in St. Albert Tigers senior men’s baseball tournament play on Saturday.

The Riggers lost their first game to Fort Saskatchewan by a 5-4 score. Matt Fay was three-for-four in a losing cause, cracking a home run and adding two singles.

In the second game the Riggers put a beating on their city rivals, the Red Deer Stags, by a 15-4 count. Dustin Northcott pitched five strong innings in the win and got help from the Chatwood brothers — Jason and Jaret — who each had a triple and a double. Matt Fay also had another strong game going three-for-four with a double and two singles.
