A Rimbey RCMP officer facing assault charges in connection to an off-duty personal relationship will return to Rimbey provincial court on Feb. 3 to enter pleas.

General duty Const. Jesse Charles Lambright, 52, was charged with two counts of assault and one count of uttering threats. Offence dates are from Sept. 10, 2010, to Sept. 19, 2011.

He first appeared in court on the charges in October 2011.

On Jan. 6, Lambright elected to have his case heard before a provincial judge but did not enter a plea.

He also faces one charge of failing to comply with an undertaking. The alleged offence date was Oct. 7, 2011.

RCMP Sgt. Patrick Webb, RCMP spokesman for Southern and Central Alberta, said Lambright was suspended from duty after charges were laid.

A RCMP code of conduct investigation was suspended pending the outcome of criminal charges.
