Rocky Mountain House RCMP were busy on the weekend.

On Saturday, at about 5 p.m., a white 1993 Ford minibus owned by the Good Lord’s Food Bank was stolen from an alley on 49th Avenue and 52nd Street in Rocky Mountain House. The keys had been left in the vehicle.

Early Sunday morning, at 12:30 am, RCMP were on patrol on the Sunchild Reserve when they encountered the stolen mini bus. Attempts to stop the bus were made, however, the driver fled and was not pursued.

A short time later, police were responding to a firearms complaint on the O’Chiese Reserve when they met the stolen bus. Police emergency equipment was activated, at which time the stolen bus swerved at the police truck. The officer was forced to take evasive action to avoid a collision. No pursuit was initiated.

The bus was later located on the boundary road near the Sunchild Road. It had suffered extensive damages with several windows smashed, the drive shaft broken and the transmission demolished.

At 7 a.m. on the same day, five youth were seen next to the bus by a motorist who picked them up and dropped them off at a residence on the O’Chiese reserve.

This matter is still under investigation.

Later on Sunday in a different incident, at approximately 1:30 p.m., a report was received of individuals unlawfully inside a residence on the O’Chiese reserve.

The owner was away at the time and had another individual check on the place. Inside the residence was a male with a double-barreled sawed-off shotgun, who intimidated the individual, who then fled the area.

RCMP responded and were threatened with being shot.

Moments later, two males jumped out of the windows and fled into the wooded area. A young female was located inside the residence and was arrested.

Inside the residence, several items were seized, including a double-barreled sawed-off shotgun, ammunition, crack cocaine, marijuana, a machete, bear mace, cash and other items.

This matter is still under investigation and charges are pending against two males. The female youth involved was released on a promise to appear in court.
